Fees & Insurance
Fees, insurance and paying for your care
Appointments are available to patients with private medical insurance and to those funding their own care. Fees are confirmed before your appointment is booked, so there are no unexpected costs.
Insured patients
Dr Foo is a recognised provider with the following insurers:
Allianz · Aviva · AXA Health · Bupa · Healix · Vitality · WPA
Before your appointment, please contact your insurer to pre-authorise the consultation and any electrodiagnostic studies, and to confirm the terms of your policy. Most policies cover consultation and NCS/EMG in full, but any excess or shortfall under your policy remains your responsibility - your insurer can confirm this when you pre-authorise.
Most insurers require a referral from your GP or a consultant before authorising cover; your insurer will confirm what they need. You will usually be provided with an authorisation number. Dr Foo's billing team will contact you via email or telephone to request your insurance membership/policy number and pre-authorisation before your appointment.
Self-funding patients
You do not need private medical insurance to be seen. Self-funding patients are welcome. Our team will request for your GP or consultant's referral letter before your appointment. You can also self-refer for an appointment with Dr Foo however, we will need to request some basic information from you regarding your symptoms and clinical concerns so Dr Foo has the appropriate information to tailor your consultation and procedure accordingly.
Self-pay fees are all-inclusive and start from £325. The exact fee depends on the hospital where you are seen, because billing arrangements differ between sites, and is always confirmed before you book so there are no unexpected costs.
At Nuffield Health Leeds, Nuffield Health York and Spire Harrogate:
Consultation with nerve conduction studies (and EMG where required): £325
The fee is all-inclusive, covering the consultation, the study itself and the formal report - there is nothing further to pay.
As electrodiagnostic testing is a diagnostic service, follow-up appointments are not usually required; the findings and report are returned to your referring clinician to guide further management. An electronic copy of the finalised report will also be provided to you via email upon request.
At The Duchy Hospital, Harrogate:
Fees at The Duchy are set and invoiced directly by the hospital, and differ from those listed above. The Duchy's bookings team will confirm the fee for your appointment when you book: 01423 567136.
Payment at the Nuffield and Spire sites are collected in advance of your appointment by Dr Foo's billing team.
Cancellations
Fees are payable in advance to secure your appointment. If you need to rearrange or cancel, please give at least 48 hours' notice so that the appointment can be offered to another patient — we are happy to move your appointment where this notice is given. Regrettably, fees cannot be refunded for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the appointment, or where an appointment is not attended.
For any further queries about fees or insurance, please contact the clinic.
