Referral information

​

What to include

A brief referral letter is most helpful. Please include where possible:-

​

• The clinical question 

• Relevant history and examination findings, including duration and progression.

• Current medications, in particular anticoagulation.

• Any implanted devices (pacemaker, defibrillator, neurostimulator).

• Relevant imaging or previous electrodiagnostic reports, if available.

How to send a referral

Insured patients should be advised to pre-authorise with their insurer.

Reporting

A structured finalised report including electrodiagnostic findings, summary and conclusion, with correlation to the clinical question is returned to the referrer promptly after the appointment, typically within 7 working days. Patients are usually advised to discuss the finalised report with their referring doctor prior to obtaining a copy for their own records.
